Low-cost airline Norwegian has announced to introduce long-distance flights to three new destinations from Copenhagen Airport within a year.
The airline will start direct flights to Florida and Ft Lauderdale, in the US from November and direct flights to New York and Bangkok from February 2014.
The new announcement by Norwegian is seen as a challenge to SAS-dominated air superiority in Scandinavia,
Norwegian’s CEO, Bjørn Kjos said that competition is healthy for the industry and the customers will get benefit from this. He further said that the long-distance flight market has been dominated for long by high prices and little flexibility.
The airline is expecting six new Boeing 787 Dreamliner airplanes this year, which it plans to introduce on the new routes.
