China Airlines (CAL), the largest airline of Taiwan launched direct flights to Weihai in China’s northern Shandong Province on Tuesday to capitalize the tourism in coastal city of Weihai. While the inaugural flight from Taoyuan International Airport was launched to welcome in the New Year but flights on this route will not be offered regularly until from 17th January.
The once-weekly flight to Weihai will be serviced every Friday by Boeing 737-800 aircraft which offers eight seats in Business Class and 150 seats in Economy Class. According to CAL President Samuel Lin, the weekly service aims to boost travel exchanges between Taiwan and Weihai, adding about 20,000 Taiwanese nationals visited the Chinese city in 2012.
With the introduction of new route to Weihai, CAL will be operating 115 cross-strait flights reaching the total of 27 Chinese destinations.
